Ruth Rands advises on knitwear care in the Sunday Times Style magazine

In the good jumper guide this weekend in the Sunday Times Style, Ruth Rands founder of Herd gave some advice to Fashion Editor Jane McFarland on caring for knitwear.

She said:

"I asked for tips from Ruth Rands, who last autumn launched Herd, a made-in-England label that uses 100 per cent traceable wool from sheep farmers in Lancashire and Yorkshire. She said: “Wool knits need less washing than cotton or synthetic, as wool is naturally breathable and adapts to your body temperature, meaning you sweat less. The wool fibre also doesn’t absorb smells in the same way, so simply airing it out will work. If you do need to wash a knit, a quick handwash with a drop or two of natural wool detergent — save yourself from millions of rinses by using a minimal amount — or a gentle cool wool washing-machine cycle should do the trick.” Her one rule? Never ever dry-clean."
